Sometimes I just want a snack and I am also calorie counting and would like to order a kids meal TO GO at fast foods .
I wouldn't do this at a sit down restuarant.
Example : Moes southwest grill has 300-400 kids meal choices .
My question is whether it is wrong to order a kids meal for
me????
if the kid meal isn't stuff like mac n cheese, etc then I would order it. Sometimes restaurants give you too much food and I don't like that so I opt for the kids meal.
I don't think it's wrong. If the amount of food is sized for a kid then you should pay the kid's price, even if you're an adult - just as if a kid ordered from the adult menu, you'd pay the adult price.
But you can always say you're taking it home to your kid.
If my DH and I stop for fast food we either order a kids meal or something off of the dollar menu. For years we haven't had any problems. The regular meals are just way too much food.
In a restaurant you can see if they will give you a half portion. If not order an extra salad and split a meal with someone. That's what my DH and I plan to do from now on because there is no reason for us to eat a whole meal. Again it is way too much food. Sometimes the restaurant will charge a "share or plate" charge for sharing.
Another option is to eat out for lunch but almost at their lunch closing hours. Usually you can get the same foods but it is less expensive and they are smaller portions. Also if you eat a late lunch you can just have a snack for your dinner.

I see absolutely nothing wrong with ordering a "to go" kids meal for yourself, whether it's a drive thru or if you walk in and get it to go. Around here (or at least at the places that I've been to), an adult can't sit down in a restaurant and order a child's meal. They clearly mark on the menu that it is for 12 and under (or whatever age).

That's interesting. Again, around here, there is usually a lunch menu and a dinner menu (or just one menu for both), and whatever menu you order from is the price that you are charged. I have never seen lunch food (or dinner food) sold for less because it was near closing time. Lordy Lordy, that just might cause a stampede in Texas !

Correction... not 300-400 kids meals but 300-400 calorie kids meals ,

Sorry, I worded that wrong. I just meant if you get lunch close to the lunch closing time you don't have to also eat a big dinner. The lunch portions are smaller and cheaper then "dinner". You would save money and calories by eating a late lunch because "hopefully" you won't need a big dinner.

I think that is smart ... it would work for me.
Also I am going to check for restaurants that have senior early bird deals.
I know Golden Corral used to.

Thanks, I get it now.
