Out of the last 5 times I have eaten it, none of those times was baked--it was prepared according to the instructions on the box.

The crust is the best part, I eat that first.

I don't care for squishy overcooked noodles, but I do love the crust on top of the Macaroni and Cheese.

When I make it, I always add an extra layer of cheese on the top and cover that with cracker crumbs and melted butter.
When it's finished baking, I give it a few minutes under the broiler to get a nice brown crunchy crust on top.

I had frozen Stouffers mac and cheese today. I cooked it a minute longer in the microwave and got a sweet cheesy crust on the sides. So apparently, it doesn't have to be oven baked at all.
