If lime is light green, and cherry is red... What color should apple be? How about pear, raspberry or pomegranate? Grape is purple, so what about plum or blackberry?
You're right. And it reminds me of how I used to (okay, okay, still do) answer this question: Which flavor candy/lollipop/whatever do you want? My answer: "Red." The retort was always "Red is not a flavor." Um, I know that. It could bite me in the butt sometimes: I would want cherry or strawberry and end up with watermelon (ugh!) or cinnamon (ack!), but more often "red" = the "flavor" that I wanted.
PS. I was a little weirded out by the direction/tangent this thread took.

Apple - Medium Green (darker than Lime but lighter than Watermelon)
Pear - Greenish Yellow
Raspberry - Blue (this is already common)
Pomegranate - Dark Red
Grape - Purple
Plum - Lighter Purple
Blackberry - Darker Purple, almost Black

But you are right, with that. Nothing red actually tastes like cherry or strawberry or watermelon or whatever. It tastes like red. Same with purple--no actual grape has ever tasted like what purple looks like.

Grape flavored sweets aren't modeled after standard supermarket grapes, but Concord grapes.

Hahaha! So true.
But when "red" tastes like watermelon or cinnamon... then it tastes like "ick!" to me. I want my "red" to be cherry(-ish). Failing that, I don't mind strawberry(-ish).
