I haven't seen them out here in the midwest. Are they sweet, tangy??

Granny Smith, for the same reasons others stated - nice and tart eaten fresh and great for baking (apple crisp is my favorite!).

Tried a new variety recently called Ambrosia, it was very crisp, juicy, and with a hint of other fruit tastes...very good and a bit pricy. Love the Honeycrisp too!

Cameo apples! Every time I have had one except once they are juicy, tart, and crisp. So delicious. Those are the only apples I eat now.

I just love Mitsu apples. They are like a Fuji but better. I don't see them much anymore because we had a couple of really cold winters and it killed most of the Mitsu trees.

Winesap, anyone?? They are wonderful. Beautiful apples with a classic apple flavor. Crisp, juicy, spicy taste that reminds you of the best cider.....complex and not just sweet.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I should have voted Winesap but voted "Other" too quickly after picking "Stayman" as my favorite apple, for all the reasons you listed. Stayman is a form of Winesap. I felt so bad seeing Winesap going with no votes
