Yes, and I was just googling to see if I could find the cookbook I copied it from, but I'm coming up empty. I'll try to remember to send it to you later, as I'm not home and do not have it handy.

Always pie, hands down, always and forever.

I really wish I'd held out for pies at our wedding instead of cake. I detest about 95% of cake and loathe about 99% of frosting.

Cake for me, as long as it's pretty plain -- e.g. white or yellow cake with chocolate frosting, or chocolate cake with vanilla frosting, or if I'm REALLY crazy, chocolate chip cake with chocolate frosting or spice cake with vanilla frosting. Cake with fruit inside or cream cheese or anything else? YUCK -- I'm pretty much like a kid when it comes to my taste in cakes.

For some reason I have never liked pie. ANY pie. I always brought at least 1 pie to Thanksgiving at my friends' house in Berkeley, but I never ate it -- everyone else loved pie so I bought it for them but just had vanilla ice cream myself. Since I love vanilla ice cream it wasn't much of a problem!

If you put a buttercream or cream cheese frosting on it I might be tempted to eat a piece of cake. Otherwise it's just a sugary mouthful of baked flour and eggs with a vegetable grease topping that turns to paste in my mouth.

I can get behind a carrot cake with pineapple and nuts in it. Or a strawberry shortcake. It's got to be chewy, fruity and have some texture.

I am now officially freaking out, because I have ransacked the kitchen looking for the recipe for French Chocolate Cake, and I cannot find it. Today of all days, I really need that chocolate cake. I know it's saved on one of the computers in this house, so I guess I'll spend the day searching. Better than checking the election results every five minutes!

I like both. Pie makes me feel less guilty. My grandma (RIP) made really great pie, so I think that's why I'm a fan.
