When I was about 10, my mom taught me to make boneless, skinless chicken breasts, seasoned with salt/pepper/herbs and sauteed in a mixture of Italian dressing and soy sauce. It's such a simple, yet flavorful recipe and I continue to make it for myself on a regular basis!
When I was 10-12 my best friend and I would make Tom Soup, Meatloaf, baked pots and corn for her family and then for mine. I forget what we made for dessert. I do remember Toll house cookie dough with a note on it to "stay out"!!LOL
...as well as something called "cheese dunk" - it was basically any leftover cheese melted in a skillet with whatever add-ins you could scrounge up in the fridge. I loved making it with sliced green onions sauted with slices of hot dogs and then melt in some cheddar cheese. We served it atop slices of bread. I don't think I could eat it today but it was heavenly to me when I was around 6.
Thanks for sharing this! I can just imagine cute little DontH8Me puttering around the kitchen.
