I am not even sure what it means...but I DO KNOW I find it terribly annoying.

I know there are better things to do in life than complain about a silly word but I am thinking I am not alone here...

I know I posted this in the "FOOD and DRINK" forum so I apologize if I have offended any "FOODIES" out there. It just DRIVES ME crazy..

I am one as well and no, it doesn't annoy me. It's simple, to the point, and keeps me from having to say "I have an interest in food, all sorts of food, not just eating it but preparing it and sharing it a discussing it as well". I hope that clears things up for you so you aren't annoyed anymore.

Yes! Especially when said "foodie" eats only food from the white/yellow groups-hot dogs, burgers, pizza, chicken nuggets, etc. and not actual food!

I love food, have traveled the world and eaten stuff most people wouldn't touch and I will never refer to myself as a foodie. Foodie is such a trendy and unclassy description and will eventually wear itself out.

Check out this blog entry regarding the term. It's pretty funny!

No....the term "foodie" is fine. It only bothers "food snobs", who think those that eat normal food are inferior. Man I wish I had about 10 crunchy tacos right now.

i am a foodie and not affended. to me it just means that i like to eat and try ALL different kinds of food, as opposed to those who eat the same things and are too picky to try anything new for fear they wont like it.
it's because of my father that my brother and i are the way we are

Doesn't offend me or any of the almost 400 members of the Central Texas Foodies meetup I belong to. We eat all kinds of food, from haute cuisine to every day fair, from BBQ to Moroccan to Italian to Thai and everything in between, and we're even having a "Guilty Pleasures" potluck where we each bring the "guilty pleasure" in the way of something that uses, oh, Cool Whip or Jello or any of the other ingredients that food snobs turn their noses up at.

In other words, great, truly great, food can be found all sorts of places, and a true foodie doesn't limit themselves to what's "politically correct".

Why on earth would that simple word offend someone? What exactly is offensive about it? I'm puzzled.

It annoys the heck out of me. If someone used the term in my presence I'd seriously have to bite my tongue in an effort not to make a sarcastic reply.

Nope, doesn't bother me at all. Much more casual than saying "epicurean" or something similar.

Not nearly as annoying as the word "green" ....

It's easier than saying Food Fan. Oh wait.. that wasn't that hard.. maybe Food Fan can be the next trendy annoying overused phrase to sweep the nation!

I call myself a foodie because for the same reason as Ceece. She said it well.
