No. Not when compared to other supercars. The previous GT put down 550hp from its supercharged v8. After 9yrs the best they can do is just 50hp more (if this turns out to be be the accurate hp figures)? They should have stayed with a V8.
Exactly. 10 years on, and their successor car only has 50hp more? (And likely less torque, and not as nice of a curve either.) McLaren for example, did it right. 627 for their previous halo car the F1, and upped the ante to 903 with the P1. That's progress.

Laugh all you want, the horsepower figure is going to be a sticking point for that price range. With a 3.5 liter, they won't be able to get as much horsepower out of it as Porsche can with their 3.8 liter turbo, or as much as the previous GT could get out of its 5.4 liter without doing some serious modifications.
You don't know anything about "balance or drivability" regarding the GT... and neither does anyone else at this point.
Some still think that HP numbers are the most important factor out there...
Doesn't the Porsche 911 Turbo produce "only" 560 hp? Likewise, the GT-R produces a "mere" 545 hp?
Yet they both launch to 60 in well under 3 seconds.
ZR-1 has 638 hp and has slower times than both.
You do understand why 0-60 numbers would be better in those two vs the zr-1 right?
That's what I was wondering. I wonder if it'll come in under $100k.

I hope he does. The Corvette is difficult to launch with the RWD setup.
It's interesting how the Corvette usually weighs in less and makes more power than the GTR and 911 Turbo yet the AWD advantage is so incredible.
From what I've read, the C7 Z06 has been somewhat of a disappointment. I think Chevy needs to step up their Corvette game if they don't want Ford to pass them depending on what their goal for production on the GT is.

On paper, it should be quicker than the comparatively priced Viper... but it's not. The Viper wins repeatedly, from a dead stop to highway pulls.
People are blaming the engine tuning as being very conservative and pulling timing, limiting peak horsepower. Not to mention the overheating problems everyone has been having with them, and that's on the road too, not just the track.
Really, an Ecoboost 6? If ever there was a perfect application for that high-revving flat-plane-crank V8 they just developed that could help recoup a big chunk of those development costs, this would be it.
Very pretty car when it came back in the early 2000's. Did not handle very well, but was VERY pretty! The 2011+ mustang GT's will hand the FGT it's arse at the track ( a real one, with curves). I bet this one is an entirely new animal!

8-9 years ago the Ford GT was 150-175K and they sold everyone of them so there is no chance it will be under 100K!
