I will believe a big 7.0L gasoline V8 getting better fuel economy than the Inline-6 Cummins diesel when I see it.

The 8.1 Hemi that never made it to the streets was making 750hp and 1000ft lbs of twist and getting over 20 mphs at 75 mph. Ford has not said what the actual specs on the engine are but the days of the diesel getting the big gas mileage numbers vs gas powdered engines is at an end. The biggest issue with diesel power is the fact that ALL diesel engines are dirty, emissions wise. To get the emissions to an acceptable level the compression ratio has to be dropped. Most of the ones sitting in the new trucks are in the 16:1 compression ratio range. Yeah, you can push the compression ratio up a lot, get the power back and fuel mileage up, but emissions that are uncontrollable also goes thru the roof. Enjoy the Cummins while you can, it's days are numbered.
