Did Ford ever fix the problems with the 10-speed transmission (10R80)? I've been considering a Ranger, but I have yet to hear anyone in person say anything good about that transmission.

Only had 2 Ford trucks. A 99 and 03 Lightning. Only trucks that looked good and were kinda fast. GM had the perfect truck with the S10 XTREME and could have slapped in a V8 but never did.

I have a 2019 Ranger and am really pleased!

When we bought our 25' trailer (under 4,000 lbs) in Tacoma, we had barely gone a mile or two on I5 headed home when I decided to buy an F150. The Ranger with the 4.0 V6 was capable of pulling it up the hills to Sammamish, but because the truck was under 17' long and the trailer was 25' plus tongue, it felt like the trailer was pushing the truck. With the current ranger being only 17'6'' I would not go more than about a 16' trailer with it.
Great info and perspective. We'd be looking at the 16-20' RV trailer range, no bigger. Haven't checked the weights, but if they are 3000-5000lbs, I figured 7500 towing capacity would handle it. Plus the Ranger tow package includes some sway features also.

If the Ranger or Toyota Tacoma or similar doesn't work, then we'll skip the whole thing. As nice as it might be, I can't fit an F150 in my garage!

I had a 2018 F150 with a 2.7V6 Twin Turbo and 10 speed transmission, no issues at all. I now have a 2021 Lariat also with the 10 speed but with a 3.6 Twin Turbo, again no issues. In talking to the techs at the Ford place, have not heard of anything.

I bought a 2019 F150 5.0 4x4, because it rode better than the GMC and their pricing, at the time. was way better than buying another Sierra.

112k miles into this truck and I love it! Zero issues and I average 19.3mpg if I drive it sanely.

I am not sure why many complain about the 10 speed...I think this is a huge reason why it gets such good mileage for a full sized, V8 pickup. I am also changing the fluid every 60k miles, instead of waiting until 100k.

Since my work buddies only get maybe 2-3mpg better mileage from their EcoBoosts, I decided to go with the V8 and I am glad I did. No problems at all and it tows great. No turbos to worry about, either.

Why Ford originally? looks. I loved the look of the dent-sides of the 70's. I think the 79 front end is the best-looking truck design ever. So, I have had both a 78 and a 79 Bronco in the past. I also had an 81 Bronco.

My most recent trucks have been a 2018 Ford SuperCab and now a 2020 F150 SuperCrew 6 1/2ft bed.

One thing I've always liked of the Ford trucks is their maneuverability and ride compared to others of the same size. My 20ish ft long Super Crew is surprisingly maneuverable for what it is.

Right now, I'm currently in the market for a "toy" and it will be a 78/79 Bronco or a reg cab/8ft bed 78/79 F150/250 4x4.

Why trucks? Comfort! Room! Style! I like shoulder room and space in front of me. I don't like being near the windshield.

Also, I have always loved fishing so in the 80's, when I started driving, I needed a 4x4 to take me out on the beaches to go surf fishing. For the last 30 years fishing has been my career. Room in the back to put my tackle and now that I'm not working on other people's large sport fishers and have my own little back bay charter boat, I need a truck to tow it. I still drive on the beach and also like to use 4lo when launching and retrieving my boat.

Main reason is still the original reason. I like the looks, comfort and room of a truck!

Something recently made could be fun for a while, until some little buried plastic part breaks. Excavating the part to replace it costs a thousand in labor and maybe another thousand for parts broken in excavation. Ugh, no. I bought a ninth generation F150. I can put fingers through the rust holes. The seats are not made anymore, so I add padding until I buy junkyard seats. While bits fall off it will probably outlast anything made now.

I bought my first Ford Pickup because it was only $20 (and I was age 11)

My second and last Ford Pickup set me back $400. Should have never sold it, as I'm looking for a 57 Ford F700 Cab to mount on my 1st Gen Dodge CTD 4x4 dually. I can't find any for $400 (yet).

Of (9) trucks in the yard tonight, NONE are Fords.

I wouldn't mind having a Fummins, but I don't like the dash / sitting position in Ford trucks. (Had to drive them all night for many yrs, some routes were over 800 miles, and I had to hurry to get back to the terminal in time to work my morning job (which was also driving a Ford (wrecker or Milk truck) https://www.pinterest.com/pin/carnat...7460347645470/

Good pint. Our garage has two separate doors, and a post in the middle. With the side mirrors collapsed it will go into the garage, but the driver cannot get out. The door will hit the pillar about in the middle of the garage. Mine lives in the driveway, so on days like today a bit of frost/ice scraping but otherwise not a big problem.
