Hey y'all ~ How's your Fall colors over there? If you had one day to tour around to see the best fall colors, where would you go in Colorado. Preferably in the East side of the state but not open to all.
Thanks for the info!

I've seen very little in the way of "fall colors" in town, as of this moment. Still looks like summer.

The east side of the state is particularly void of trees, so colors would be skimpy even at the height of fall changes.

Good to know about the east side. We'd travel up north from Pueblo. I'm watching the color maps so it wouldn't be until October, wondering where there's a good location of deciduous trees.

You don't want to be too late either. Just because they aren't noticeable in town, doesn't mean it's the same into the mountains. They may be changing out there even now.

Hopefully someone will chime in with specifics and details.

Not sure why you would want to go all the way to the Ft Collins area to see trees if you are in Pueblo. You can find plenty of aspens changing in the Wet Mtn valley locales of Westcliffe and Silver Cliff much closer to Pueblo. You might also come across a large number of scrub oak, gramble oak, willows, and cottonwoods. CO is actually pretty light on native deciduous trees in most areas. Colo Spgs or Denver may give you more of a selection of these imported reds and oranges, although some aspen groves can take on orange hues.

In the past week I've seen good color on Guanella Pass, Boreas Pass, around Breckenridge, and along the Peak-to-Peak Highway around Nederland and Rollinsville. Color was just starting in the Estes Park area when I was up there 8 days ago, so it may be getting close to peaking now.

I live in the foothills west of Boulder along the Peak to Peak Scenic Byway. Fall color started early and is happening fast due to the drought in this area. Many aspen are just turning brown and dropping their leaves. Very doubtful that there will be any leaves left in October up here.
I'd go with TCHP's advice. And Boulder typically has nice fall foliage in October. https://www.bouldercoloradousa.com/t...es-in-boulder/

They are looking good in Rocky Mountain National Park Right Now and up in areas like Frisco, Breckenridge, Aspen. In the next couple of weeks more trees up in the mountains will be losing their leaves so I would get up there if you want to leaf peep.
