I will be visiting the Fort Lauderdale area and am wondering if I can get to Miami/South Beach from the Ft Lauderdale/Hollywood airport. I have tried to find this information online and am coming up with this scenario.. Take the Tri-rail from the airport to the Metro Rail transfer station but that's where I get lost.

Please, let me know how I can get to Miami/South Beach. Thank you.

Rent a car! It's worth it! Follow the instructions I gave on the thread below. Mine is the second posting. For entertainment options refer to post 4 on the same page.

Otherwise, talk to Howard. He may have a reasonable deal.

You have to take the Tri-Rail to Miami-Dade County and switch onto the Miami Metro-Rail system. Then you take that to downtown Miami where you switch to a bus or a cab ride. It is very complicated. It would be much easier to rent a car especially if you're only planning on visited 1-2 days. If you're staying a whole week, then its worth taking the trains to save money on a rental car. Once you get to South Beach, its all walking and taking cab rides.

Rent a car... public transportation here is a nightmare, confusing, and not effective at all.

I definitely will be renting a car. It would take me over 2 hours to get to South Beach on the train.
