However, since it looks like you're dead-set on living in Florida I think you should look into Central/Northern Florida. Heck, even Southwest Florida is better than Southeast Florida. Naples is really nice and is a bit cheaper. Also consider Port Saint Lucie (really nice), Stuart, or Melbourne. Brevard county is where I considered moving before deciding to move back to NY.

Florida actually isn't all that bad of a state, it's Southeast Florida that I think sucks.
Yeah you're right. Orlando, Jacksonville, and Tampa have no crime, no traffic, and no Hispanics! In fact you probably think Detroit and Atlanta are better than S. FL.

The other areas you mentioned are nice areas, but are super conservative small towns. They are great areas for certain types of people but not for everyone.

Traffic really isn't an issue for me especially in my line of work, it can be good or bad depending on which way you look at it, come to think of it, there is just as much of a conjestion on I 77 and 485 as there is on the long island express way because this is a fast growing area. I don't know anymore.

According to this guy, NC is the worst place on the planet and nothing rivals it, not even NYC. South FL is a cakewalk compared to there.

No its not the worst place on the planet, I'm just tired of all the biased forums and people acting like its the land of perfect where the cost of living is cheap and your going to get a 6 figure paying job a week after you move here or others saying the nicest people are here, I mean c'mon already!

Ok but you obviously do not realize people say the same stuff on this forum every day.

Have you been to the Gulf coast of Florida? Sarasota, Venice, Port Charlotte, and Naples are all nice and, if you get on those forums, you'll find a lot more encouragement to move to those areas than to Lauderdale area. Fifty years ago, when I was a child, I lived in Margate. This was when the area was first being built up and it was great for many years. I used to go for vacation once in a while in recent years, but now have a house on the Gulf coast and love it!

Jesus Christ, you people are so incredibly unhelpful it's hilarious. The OP said that the traffic, bad drivers, etc wont bother him bc he's used to it from NC. Stop trying to out-bad him by telling him SoFla is worse. That wasn't his question. Jesus!

Dear OP, there are plenty of decent places in Ft Lauderdale, but you don't give a lot of criteria for what you're looking for. Close to the beach? Older established neighborhood? Condo vs house? There are plenty of choices.
