Just curious as to what you all think of the area...is it relatively safe & a decent town to live in? It's one of the places we considering when we move to FL. Other places on our list so far are Palm Beach Gardens, and Jupiter.

Where in Davie? What price range?

Most of Davie is quite nice. In the eastern parts of town you can be directly in the flight path of FLL and the planes fly pretty low. You need to visit the area to see if it will bother you.

Western Davie especially does have some real nice areas and communities ... but both Jupiter and Palm Beach Gardens are much nicer places . I also prefer Weston and Cooper City over most of Davie ... I think the OP should check out those communities as well .

I live in Weston and I love it here. IMO the nice parts of Davie are just as nice as Weston. In fact, my kids play sports in the Weston leagues with lots of kids from the western part of Davie.

I don't like Cooper City. Why do you like it so much?

IMO Cooper City is not conveniently located. That is my biggest problem with it. Davie has better access to highways and prettier neighborhoods (esp in the west). I only have a problem with with the eastern part of Davie because the noise of the planes would drive me insane.

Yeah, I was thinking more on the western end of Davie. Anything up to a max of $400K is what I'm looking for.

I'll take a look at Weston but it's a little bit far out. Can $400K get something decent there?

It's really all going to depend on where we get jobs as to where we live. If we get jobs around Palm Beach, it's either going to be PBG, or Jupiter. If our jobs are around Ft. Lauderdale or in Dade Co, we will probably settle in or around Davie. Anyway, I'll be back down there next month & I'll scope it out a little more.

It really depends what you consider decent. West Davie borders Weston, so it's not that much further. You can definitely get a house in Weston, in a nice neighborhood for $400K now.

I have visited PBG and Jupiter but I don't know enough about the area to comment. It seemed nice when I was there.

Well, I guess by that I mean a place in a low-crime area that's at least 2,000sq. ft. with 3 bedrooms/2 baths, and a 2-car garage. I prefer newer construction when it comes to a home since I really don't like dealing with fixer-uppers.

You should be ok in Weston.

Re plane noise in east Davie....we don't notice it - I think becoz they fly over 595...Dania may be noisy. And, if they ever open the south runway, it will *definitely* be noisy here.

That's why I suggest people go spend some time in the area and see if it bothers them. Some people hardly notice, but it drives others insane.
