No it's not dark, just heavy. It really is gooooood! Again, if your familiar with Blue Moon, or from the north, Oberon, it's very similar to both of those.

South Florida has no real beer culture per se. I would say that Presidente, Corona, Bud Light and Miller Light are probably the most popular brands. Most Latinos I know drink Corona or Presidente, if and when they drink beer.

My personal favorite is the German Brewery on Lincoln Road (forgot the name). Just don't do the 'boot' in the summer - it will be luke warm before you're even half finished! Gordon Biersch Brewery in Brickell is also good. Those are the only two local breweries I am personally familiar with.

Not a beer drinker, but I do like Blue Moon, put a slice of an orange with it, and its perfect!

There is a microbrewerey in Coral Gables called Titanic. Also, there is a popular beer among latins, especially Cubans, called Polar.

Polar is actually a Venezuela beer, popular of course among venezuelans...

Agree that Shocktop is excellent. It isn't a "heavy" beer like a Guiness, but it is a wheat based beer with orange flavoring.

It's funny. Never heard of Shock Top before we sampled it at Seaworld. Oh, I miss those free beer.

Any way, it now became my wife's favorite.

I'm out all of the time. I bought a case of Presidente and was very disappointed. I thought it tasted like crap. Blue Moon is great stuff and women love it too. But at the end of the day I prefer a traditional beer like a Sam Adams or Miller. An occasional Corona really hits the spot.
