Hi: I have been reading the posts for about a month and everyone's comments have really been helpful. I am planning on moving to Ft Lauderdale by the end of the summer and have narrowed down choices to Pembroke Pines and Weston.
I am visiting the area to take a look next week-looking at schools for kids, houses, etc...can anyone give me some advice about where in those areas would be a good place to venture???

Any help would be appreciated!!
Thanks!

For Weston, spend some time at the town center, weston regional park and peace mound park. If you have more time to kill, tour the YMCA or midtown athletic club.

Good places to "venture"? You mean just to visit, but not to live? Miami, specifically South Beach. Also east Fort Lauderdale, the beach areas, just taking a drive up/down US1 is fun if you've never done those things. Nearby you have the Sawgrass Mills shopping mall which is the largest in FL. The Seminole Hardrock Hotel and Casino is cool to check out night or day, but not as much of a kids place. There is the Metro-Dade Zoo, but that is further south (about 45-50 minute drive from Pembroke Pines.

I moved here from Atlanta back in August and just love it down here.

I think the area your looking at is a good choice. It is very middle class, suburban area.
