I'm in NW Illinois this week. High today in the low 50's. Low last night was 27.

Needless to say, we're ready to get back.

Hurry back. GORGEOUS weather. We are breaking records with 90 degrees. I am so grateful everyday that I am here instead of Wisconsin. This is the time of year I start feeling crummy.

That's why I moved here to get away from the depressing long cold winters of the north.... And after 14 years I still don't miss winter !
SW Florida is perfect for me as I love being active year round. It helps to love sunny days, warm weather, beautiful breezes and the spectacular ever changing view of the Gulf of Mexico !
Thanks for the chilly weather update. Hope you are able to return soon.

I am sitting in Murrells Inlet SC. Better than Jersey, but chilly enough for a sweatshirt today (although with shorts and flipflops). Time for Naples. Heading down Sunday morning.......

just back to the grey north after a great 2 weeks!

Trip Report:
- firsttime wildlife sightings...
live crab (John Morris Rd. Beach...free parking!)
stingray school (north point of FM beach)
wild boar newborn (6 mile slough free tour...9:30 Wednesdays)
armadillo (wandering the Paseo neighbourhood)

Babcock tour - ...birds would be better in wet season. Better for kids than 6 mile slough tour. Sit near speaker on bus to hear anything.
University Grill - liked it more than I expected I would. Good before 6pm (blue rinse) specials! man I am getting old : - (

I just got back to Indiana after a wonderful 2 weeks in Cape Coral. We are getting ready to hunker down for a long, cold, gray winter.........We still have about 10 years before we retire so we can only go down about every other month for a couple weeks. I miss it already.

You think "breaking records with 90 degrees" is something to cheer about a few weeks before Thanksgiving?

If you talk to most people who live in FL year round they can't wait for cooler temps. They love it when the air gets drier and the temps are in the high 70s or low 80s, and cool nights.

Where you can maybe open a window.

Dewpoint is low, low, right now, though. Wait when it is brutally hot, with the crazy dewpoints, and it goes on for months. That's the big difference. The weather is kind of "fun" at first. But after years of that, it may become tolerable but you start to realize it is not all that great, either, and endless sunshine doesn't always make life happier.

yeah, living there full time inverses preference. In my northern home town, immigrants from the tropics perceive our cold weather as free air conditioning.

of course, for vacationers, second homers and snowbirds, the hotter the better, assuming you are close to a beach or a pool, especially with things turning gross up north this time of year.
