Up north on the lake....almost every boat out there is pulling a skier or a tube of some kind.Everyone in my family is into it...all the way up to "barefooting"
I'm wondering why, with all this beautiful water, why I never see anything but an occasional kite surfer.
The water off FMB is sometimes very flat with an east wind and perfect for any water sports.
Is it fear of sharks? jellyfish?.....somebody enlighten me,please

The water is too cold this time of year for a lot of people, that's really all I can think of. If it was jellyfish or sharks you wouldn't see all the jet skis. Curious to see what others have to say about it.

We never see skiers either. After all the sharks I catch I don't think I would want to ski here and I love to ski and kneeboard.I know they swim the peace river every year and I won't do that either.I got stuck on a sand bar on the peace river a few weeks ago and got out to push the boat off and sure enough a couple minutes later there is a gator on the beach sunning himself.

People don't really water ski in the Gulf or the rivers. They usually only do it on lakes in Southwest Florida. Sharks and gators are a main reason why they don't choose to water ski. You will see jet skiing, sailing, and parasailing. You will ocassionally see someone water skiing though near Ft Myers Beach. It has shallow depth and lack of undertow. People do water ski at Miromar Lakes in Naples too.
