I push it to 80 when we leave the house for periods longer than 3hr+.
78 during the weekdays
76 on weekends
75 at night is perfect for us

It also depends on age of home, exposure and overall condition of whether or not the house holds the air. My friend keeps hers set at 74 and I'm always sweating in her home.

Our thermostat is set to 81 degrees in the summer months day and night. It helps make the adjustment to outside temperatures easier. Your body will adjust to the higher temp in the house, if you just give it a chance. With the pool our bills are still almost $300!

You guys don't like heat do you? :-)

This is FL - I was expecting the heat when I moved here. I keep my A/C thermostat set at 84 degrees both day and night in the summer.

My electric bill is never above $100.

It's all relative................ To the age of the house, the ac unit, insulation, types of doors, and windows etc.

I've been in some houses where the stat was at 72 and it still felt "sticky" or humid inside. Others where it was at 79 and was quite comfortable.....Different levels of efficiencies, in the several (and possibly/probably more) factors mentioned above will have much to do with your comfort levels, and amount of the monthly bill, as well.

YC.......

How about not setting it at all.
Open the windows and door's that have screens. Lots of fresh air and you save a ton of money too. The only way to live here is without air-conditioning, much better for you health wise too.

You must live in a studio apartment.

The money you spend on mold remediation, replacing major appliances on a regular basis, and other damages caused by the humidity will far surpass the savings on your electric bill.
