Hello I have an opportunity to move to Captiva Island. I am currently a Montessori trained teacher who works in a school house located in New England. I also participate in home training to help families set up a prepared environment for their children. I would love to hear some feed back from local parents or guardians if they would be interested in a Montessori pre-school for children aged 2.9-5. If you are unsure in what this entails please feel free to contact me with any questions. I would love to see if their is some interest in this so I can start the panning for my island school house!! Thank you so much for all your input.

So 31 views and no replies hmm I was hoping for some feedback. After some research I noticed there was only one pre-school between both islands. Are all parents happy with this or would they like more options?

Hi newtocaptiva,

I'm not a resident of Captiva - I live in Cape Coral - however I'm thinking that perhaps the reason you're not getting any responses is because of the very small population on Captiva, most of which is older and probably does not have school-aged children. The population of Sanibel is higher, but again, the median age is 65, so the demand for a preschool probably isn't that high.

I could be totally off-base, but perhaps this data may be helpful in targeting your market.

Have you been to the islands? There aren't many residents there with school age children

Default island montessori

hmmm when I search population-583 people comes up...if thats the case it would be a hard sell! I own a montessori school in pensacola fl and would love to do another. If you decide to do one somewhere over there more populated, look me up I would love to form a partnership. I have a lot of the necessary materials, and shelving-a good start. rastascoob at yahoo.com

Born and raised on Sanibel & Cap... doubt you will find enough kids to put together what you're requesting. Sanibel School is amazing as far as Lee County public schools go (top of the mark). Check it out and your kids will be very happy. The Island is small enough you have class sizes ~ 20 and we grew up like an extended family.
