My St Augustine grass started looking yellow @a month ago. Scott's Turf Builder was applied a few weeks ago. Still yellow.

Went on the internet to see what I can do to green it up. My area of the cape has been pounded with rain . Now I have a robellini Palm yellowing. I had some Ironite applied to the lawn thinking it lacked iron. Still yellow.

My best guess is the ground is so saturated it can't take take up the nutrients. I have noticed those who have watered their lawns during the dry season with their sprinklers are yellowed in some areas of their lawn too. Anyone know how to correct the yellowing? I am stumped. I even top dressed it with top soil thinking that would help. Anyone know what is going on? It is growing but many of the blades are yellow.

It could be a fungus. Grab a clump of the brown grass an see if it detaches easily from the soil. If it does it could be a fungus. Also, check for grubs. I had these issues and my lawn service corrected it.
I doubt it's too much water. I still water twice a week even in the rainy season and the lawn looks great.

I'd rather have yellow grass than yellow snow.

It was treated for grubs. ,. Some blades are green but a lot are yellow. Hope it isn't a fungus .I will have to get some pros to figure it out. I have a palm all yellowed too.. It was yellow last rainy season but turned green in the dry season. It is yellow again.

iron deficiency and rain.

0-0-25 in order to tighten up the roots.

Was the Turf Builder slow release, if so, could be a few more weeks to kick in.

As for fungus, it would be grey leaf spot or brown patch, neither are yellow.

Finally, does the yellow grass look different? Could it be Sedge? An aquatic weed..

I would lean on the 0-0-25 (potassium) first.

It was a grandular ,Scott's turf builder. Ironite put on too. No spots of brown,. Nothing dead. Just yellow blades of St. Augustine . The few weeds in the lawn are green .They always look healthy.

I looked on the net and I might have a lockup and may need a soil activator for the nutrients to be absorbed by the grass. If that doesn't work I am at a dead end and let it cure on its own or see a yellow lawn for a while.

The rain has been over the top in my area and it looks like my neighbors lawn is starting to yellow. If the roots can't get any air or too much water they can't drink up the nutients . It could be too saturated with water.

My back yard is St Augustine and it is green and getting the same amount of rain.

On your next mow the yellow will dissipate.

The Iron has made the base of the blade greener than the top, that is why it is unsightly.

0-0-25 (Potassium) is needed in order to help your root structure and strengthen the lawn due to the rain.

You are correct about the overabundance of rain taking its toll on your lawn, if you want an acidifier in order to lower the PH and improve nutrient uptake, increase the sulfur to 1lb per 1000 sq feet.

SiteOne off of Viscaya has a Split Pea granular sulfur along with the 0-0-25 / 30 I keep harping on about.

Turf schedule

Imagine a calendar, summer months Iron / 0-0-25 2 x (June and Aug)

Winter months 20-0-10 3 x (Oct, Dec, April) 50 % slow release or better.

Systemic insect control: April, June, Aug

Fungus Control: As needed, the above schedule, the greatest fungus risk is during Dec and Jan. When we "Cool Down" dramatically.

I hope this helps! Make it a great weekend!
