Now I'm wondering if Simplisafe will work with all kinds of windows because I have the old timey jalousie windows that you crank open. I will be replacing them eventually and someone told me I may have to go with just the motion detectors for the time being.

It should work on your casement crank windows. But if those are the ones you want to have open, then probably not in the open position. Armed motion detectors while you are home and moving about the house are probably going to generate a ton of false alarms.

Nest is good, it just caught. Black bear coming up my steps, onto the porch, and taking down all the bird feeders attached to the porch rail at midnight!

I'd prolly go for Arlo pro as well. You can just place it anywhere. the motion sensor is too much though, been receiving notifs it picked up from my dog. The sensor seems quite sensitive.

The sensitivity of the Arlo motion sensors can be adjusted. It is a bit of trial and error at first, but they have a scale of 1 to 100 so there is a good deal of precision in the adjustments.
