Default What type of jobs locally not tied to tourism, snow birds, or real estate?

What type of jobs that people have that are not tied to tourism, snowbirds, or real estate? I have seen Chico's, Accudata, Medical, and Education as local success stories. Anything else?

I think the area is ripe to become a mini-RTP or mini-Silicon Valley for technology development. The cost of living here is going down, and our dollar is weak. Time to onshore our tech again! Why not in SWFL?

My own bump. What about light weight "green" manufacturing? Either using a "green" manufacturing process or a making products that help "green up" our world.
