My son won a spot for Summit Int'l Prep (SIP). Does anyone have any personal reviews or experiences there? I know the school is relatively new and growing pains are commonplace. Please let me know both positive and negative insights. We are planning to move north of I-30 and hwy 360. If we decide to place our son at SIP, we would most likely stay near Arlington or euless. But if the reviews are poor, we'll move further north even though we prefer not to because of my hubby's work commute (near Texas stadium). I have found only a few reviews at greatschools.com.

My granddaughter attended last year and her parents decided not to reenroll her. They were frustrated with many administrative issues, also some social issues. some administrstive issue examples: school planned an onsite dental and collected funds, never did it. School collected and cashed checks for school photos and then insisted for over a month that they had mot received the money. School had a soccer team my gd was on but the coach failed to show up most practices and all games. My gd has a gender neutral name, school kept referring to her as "he" in all letters and emails. School failed to answer emails. Social issues. My gd was one of only 3 or four Anglo kids in kindergarten. She made friends just fine, but none of the parents were willing to arrange playdates for after school or weekends. As an only child, this really was an issue for her parents. I would have had her in a couple of after school activities so don't really know if that was an issue. Her mother felt the other parents just were not interested.

She had attended Oakridge School for preschool and full week pre-k and was advanced but did not read when she started at Summit; they put her in a bilingual class to challenge her and that was wonderful... she was speaking Spanish and also could read by the end of the year.

Oh, also my granddaughter is now attending Butler Elementary in north Arlington this year and her parents LOVE it. The plan is for her to attend until middle school when they will apply for her to go back to Oakridge unless they find another public middle school they like.
