We trimmed pampas grass last weekend and dragged a heavy duty plastic bag (4x4x4) to the curb to have a friend pick it. He did not make it Tuesday/Wednesday. Thursday we had a code violation sticker and a $10 charge on our water bill. A call to the friendly city employee brought - a code inspector violated you, I do not know where to look up the code you can go on the website.

On the other hand - they picked up boxed donation items at the mail box which were marked with the neon orange flyers of the collecting church.

We also got "written up" for having fast food containers in our recycling. We do not eat fast food. We live in the middle of construction, workers have been coming and going for three years.

When we had rats coming out of a construction dumpster two code inspectors drove out to Haslet to tell us that the contractor has to empty the dumpster when the construction is finished and remove debris from lots when he has no more lots in the subdivision.

It gets better. Apparently we have a so called Code Ranger in the neighborhood. A resident who volunteers to walk the streets and contacts the city code enforcement of violations. Great!

I have had the same problem when it comes to people throwing their food stuff into our recycle bins. So I started to keep them in our backyard, they were in our garage but we started to use it for our work shop for welding and stuff, so they had to go.

It seems Fort Worth loves to penelize people with foolish code violations and high fees for such code violations.

They should come to my neighbourhood, we always have people with over flowing trash bins, and garbage on the curb, but they enver get written up, but when my bin lid is slightly open from my neighbors dumping trash into my bins Thursday night before our Friday morning pick-up I get fined.

So I am with you on this rant.

Pick up is between 7:00 am and when they show up (last year service was frequently several days late). Cans have to be at the curb. But they have to be out of sight.
HOA nipped us for can I front of back gate - it was frozen to the ground
On the other hand some drivers are great and they know we have a cooler with water on the porch.

There was a flood in Fort Worth. People had to gut out the homes, remove debris. Code Enforcement proceeded to tag every home.

I'm not sure why anyone participates in curbside recycling. The vast majority of the time, the "recycled" materials go to the landfill, regardless of what container you put it in and who picks it up. There's little to no money for the waste management companies in curbside recycling.

I wasn't talking about the city. I was talking about the people in this thread saying they've been tagged by code enforcement for recycling issues. It's not worth the headache when the materials are not likely to actually be recycled.

You do not have a choice in Ft. Worth.
