Lake Arlington plan approved with some property owners unhappy | News | fortworthbusiness.com
JJG might know more, but I don't think the plans go any farther at this point than the zoning work mentioned in the article. Fort Worth is trying to clean up their side of the lake and have it developed like Arlington's. Right now that area is littered with gas wells, industrial businesses, and a lot of older single family homes and mobile homes. The undeveloped area between the industrial businesses and the lake holds many of the gas wells.

I haven't heard anything at all about Lake Arlington, so I can't help there.

As for the arena, keep something in mind:
There are cities that have larger, NBA/NHL ready facilities that don't have major pro sports teams or tenants and won't any time soon, like Kansas City and Cincinnati. But they still built them because they're a necessity, just like Dickies.

A major reason why we dont get those big concerts and events is because we've had that UFO at the end of the Convention Center for 5 decades.

It'll be used for multiple events, just like every other multi-purpose arena in the country.

It would be nice if Fort Worth cleaned up their side. Standing on the shore of Lake Arlington in Arlington and looking west towards Fort Worth isn't exactly the best view. The lake Arlington neighborhoods in Arlington are considered quite desirable and hold their value. What schools is that area zoned for?

I hope we'll get better concerts once it's built. I hate driving to Dallas to see a show and I'm not going all the way to Winstar.

The Fort Worth side is zoned to Dunbar High School FWISD I believe.

Here is a interesting Article I found.

If the school is Dunbar I wonder who the development will be geared toward.

A big chunk of the kids in that area now attend Charter & private schools. Many of the residence in that part of Fort Worth have pretty much ditched the FWISD.

A friend of mine lives in an exclusive gated Fort Worth neighborhood near Lancaster and Duncan Perry. I doubt anyone in her neighborhood attends public school.

We are due for another massive growth spurt like we had in the 2000’s.

This one is going to be crucial in more ways than one.
