So, we recently moved to Arlington, close to Mansfield and Kennedale to be exact. Are there any places I could take my kids to ride their Kawasaki mini bike without having the cops called on us? Closer is better.

We don't have a lot of spare time but it'd be better than having them sit around playing video games all weekend.

Keep in mind that in Texas, land is privately owned. Don't trespass on private land, especially to ride dirt bikes. Quite literally, you could be shot. (That's what the purple paint on fence posts and gates means!)

I'm sure there are dirt bike parks where you can ride. Ask at a local motorcycle shop/dealer.

Village Creek Motorcross Park is located between Everman and Kennedale. I’m not sure if they allow open practice, but it’s a huge facility with trails and tracks. Many years ago, people used to ride on weekends along the Trinity River and a highway easement near Riverside golf course and 360 in far north Arlington. I haven’t seen it in a long time, so I’m assuming that’s been shut down. The best option would be to find someone you know with open land to ride on, but I know that’s easier said than done.

Texas sucks for access to public land for that kind of use. Be prepared to drive a long way and spend a lot of money for access. You will need to buy a registration sticker for access into most off road parks.

Here is a link to the site to register and a list of parks.

They just opened a place in Midlothian about a year ago but it's more of a track. There's Shady Grove in Irving and Marshall Creek in Trophy Club that are more trails/open riding areas. But if you're looking for something like CA or AZ where it's just miles and miles of dirt, you won't find it in Texas. If you're wanting to know where some kids tracks are PM me.

This ain't California. Riding here SUCKS. Very little public open land to ride in. It's mostly all private or fee based usage unless you own it yourself.

You mean to tell me all this time I just thought I was in CA? Well dang.

Well then, I guess that means CA AIN'T TX and IL, IA, WA, etc. ain't either. Gee, this is getting more complex by the second.

You might find something here:

Find Texas Trails, Off Road Parks, ATV Parks And Motocross Tracks - TX

Check them out, hopefully meet some people who can further assist you in finding places for your kids to ride. Get your kids to ask around at school, other kids can be a great source of information.

Nice weather is around the corner and there's a lot of activities for kids to do outdoors.

Thanks for all the advice. I did just go buy my kids an additional bike. I know that I'll have to drive a ways to get them on dirt but again, it beats playing Xbox all weekend. I've also scoped out a few fields around town that I can get my oldest some time working the clutch on the new bike, at least until the cops show up.
