I grew up in a school system that fought naming schools after people. Over time that seems like a good plan

A) what do Indian names have to do with abolition?
B) I'll assume you're just having some fun.

No, not having fun, just responding to the statement below.

Everyone I know from there just calls it TJ anyway. Why make it a big deal, just teach the good and the bad about a very important man in Maryland history.

It's a slam dunk this year. I am advising any and all locals to just shut up and get out of the way. Freddie Grey Mtn, George Floyd Mtn, whatever at this point.

We tried to make the case last year that the mountain was named after a free black patriot and local folk hero, likely named Nemesis, killed while fighting in the French and Indian War. Mosby from Baltimore City didn't care. I think his line was something like "We don't where or exactly when Nememisis was lynched on that mountain, but we are determined to find out."

To be blunt, nobody cares we named the mountain for a black hero or even bothers to pay attention to the citied documentory story dating back to the MD and PA Gazette from the 1750s. Social justice + willful historical ignorance isn't something you are going to be able to fight in 2020.

Yeah, that seems like the obvious choice. Though, I don't get why people are upset about Negro Mountain. The term "negro" is outdated, but to my knowledge it has never been considered offensive.

Um, "Ne·gro /ˈnēɡrō/ DATED•OFFENSIVE noun a member of a dark-skinned group of peoples originally native to Africa south of the Sahara."

Not on the same level as the n word, but still generally considered derogatory.
