Propane in general is a crock! It is a by product from natural gas, and a refinery will burn it off by the millions of gallons daily directly into the air. For some reason with the way our country is today, they are able to sell their "waist", to regular ole folks at a high and taxable price, seems to me if they can just burn off millions of gallons daily, they should be giving it away for free. Just another way for the rich man to get richer by charging people for doing the earth and his company a favor. Gotta love this broken capitalism way of thinking!

Propane price now is $1.19.

I heat with propane and have no complaints.

You say .........." they should be giving it away for free "......

??????????
Why ?

When a new road is built or a development is cleared, trees are considered a nuisance .
Sometimes trees are bulldozed to the side , stacked on a big pile and set on fire.

Does that mean if I heat with wood I should expect them to cut, split, dry, load, haul, and deliver the fuel to my house for free ?

Good idea, unless the 'gov subsidy solar sharks' are selling and installing the solar.

I was so surprised that the same sharks from 1976 showed up in 2012.
Get the US gov out of solar, and if will be affordable and practical for 'Frugal folks'.

Yep, currently doing that, I'm still on My February 1st roll of TP.!

Conserving that one, just in case....

My average water consumption is down to <10 gal / day. Saves on pump electricity for 500' well. Worthwhile and efficient task for summertime.

Or if you don't have the space out back, you could just just flush every other. Or every other other other if you're feeling adventurous!

Propane is cheap if you figure out the racket.I just ordered it for 92¢ a gallon. They go to market price, time of year for delivery, quantity delivered, lease fee per gallon, haz fees per trip, sales tax, and credit card fee. Can't do much with the sales tax but everything else you can change.Prepay? It'll save some but leaving a lot of scraps at the table.

1) Buy your tank/s and enough capacity to last you for 1 year. I have twin 500's.Ownership has it's privileges.I can buy from anyone. Snap up used tanks when available.Ownership alone will save a lot of money over time.

2) I keep track of prices from June.June-July is usually the cheapest.Winter is when they charge the highest prices.Winter + small quanity and OUCHERS!!!!

3)There's discounts with quantity. If puchasing a few hunded gallons or less per trip, you getting screwed. The more you buy, cheaper it gets.

4)Order a regular fillup in summer and have it delivered in 1 trip.Mine should be 700 gallons x .92¢ per gallon + $25 haz fee + 7% sales tax =$714 plus small credit card fee.

If you got all your eggs in a row like me,then you'll have the cheapest priced propane. My outfit will price match but nobody else can't even beat.No more worries til next June.

Owned tanks and fill full in June=lowest possible price!!!!

Propane is NOT a byproduct of natural gas (methane). Propane is made at an oil refinery.

If I was ever to live in a place without natural gas piped in, the only appliance in my house that would be propane would be some burners on the cooktop. Maybe a propane fridge, which uses only a small amount.
