A 1.75L Bacardi bottle holds about $250 in quarters...
Nothing like having it down pat~
I save my change also. There is always a day where it comes in handy.
We potty trained my grandson by giving him pennies. After he had a dollars worth, he got to go to the 'Dollar Store'
and pick out ANY toy he wanted in the whole store. He is now 3 1/2 and I can still bribe him to do chores with this offer.
I cash in the change jar once a month or so and that's my entertainment fund. I'm trying to go longer without emptying the jar but it seems like there's always something I want to do.
I rolled my change bucket several months ago, came to over $400. Problem now is I can't decide if I should save the pennies for a slug-proof border for my raised garden beds, should I save the nickles for the metal value, same with older dimes? I keep hearing how coin metals are worth more than the coins. So there it all still is, all rolled up and I have another pint jar on the windowsill filled.
I'm the odd man out here, but I do not save my change. That's one of the very few things that would make me feel poor.
My change stays in my car for parking meter money...
What about pennies and nickels? (Do parking meters takes dimes any more?)
I do my best to "use up" change but always have plenty lying around no matter what.
I save all my change too. I have a small jar that counts the money and I have a large - maybe 2-1/2 feet tall - Corona plastic beer bottle bank. My goal is to fill the small jar, when it's full put it in the beer bank, but keep the number on the coin jar and continue to add to it. That way I know about how much I have total. Then when the beer bank gets full I will decide how to use it.
That hasn't been working so well for me. LOL
BUT I currently have $65 in my coin jar. I am going on vacation in another month and will cash that in for spending money. I know I won't need a ton of spending money (going to my dad's beach condo just for some R&R).

Parking meters take everything except pennies, 50 cents and dollar coins... I usually take my pennies and use them when I pay cash for something. Husband however saves his pennies. He wraps them - I want nothing to do with it. Too many hours at the bank wrapping and breaking rolls.....

Ah, OK....I rarely use parking meters so I didn't know that.
To me, saving change feels like "free money". I don't know how much I've got in my stash right now, that's part of the game! It's mostly pennies and nickels, so probably not enough to buy another Saab.
I agree that saving change is like free money. When I figure on spending, I figure in whole dollar amounts. So if I budget $50 for groceries and spend $49.50, I consider it that I spent $50 and I save the 50 cents.
