or should I just keep using the Sterlite storage. Would kid's furniture work? All I need is a dresser and 2 night stands.

I don't know how popular craigslist is in your area, but where I live people are ALWAYS giving away used furniture on craigslist. Some stuff is in really great shape, while other things are a little questionable. However, you can always pick something up and paint it yourself.

I have bought and sold a number of items on craigslist.... but now that I have watched the series Infested, I am completely paranoid about bed bugs ..... so unfortunately, I will not be buying any used furniture in the future.

Garage, tag and estate sales.
Auctions (both estate and local consignment auctions).
Local newspapers/shoppers.

You can also post a wanted ad on craigslist or other media.

People also regularly throw this stuff away, so keep an eye out on garbage collection day.

Def. garage sales, auctions, and craigslist. If you have an active freecycle.org group near you, you might be able to score some stuff for free.

College campuses/apartments rented largely to college students are good places for discarded furniture if you are in the area on move-in, move-out days.
