Well, personally, husband and I drive very little. Between the two of us, we spend about $100/month.
My parents, on the other hand, are the opposite end of the spectrum. My mom is a real estate broker, and my dad is a property manager, real estate agent, and builder. Between them, they spend around $2000/month on gas. Mom drives a Caravan and dad has 2 trucks. None are terribly fuel efficient, but they are what is needed for what they do for a living. Mom wants a hybrid in the worst way, but for a variety of reasons, she hasn't found one that fits what she needs yet.
I spend $50-$60 a month and my husband has a company truck and the company supplies the gas. I have a Hyundai Elantra and drive 10,000 to 12,000 miles a year.
My wife and I have a Civic and a Grand Am. We carpool to work every day (we work at the same company) and our work is only 8 miles away. We average about $80 a month lately with the current gas prices for months where we are in town. If we drive out of state to visit friends our expenses that month might push $150.
Wow, after reading these amounts I really feel lucky. I spend about $25.-30.00 a month, I try to stretch it out for 30days. But I live less than 3 miles from work and even less to grocery, bank, etc.
