Some people swear Tide is the absolute best laundry detergent, but I haven't seen much difference. I finally bought a small box to see how it works, but I've been usint it on already washed/used clothes, perhaps they are already too far gone? Or maybe I need to wash them several times in Tide to see the difference?

I've just been using the cheap stuff from Sam's club, it seems to work, but my clothes could be a bit brighter. Frankly, I don't care for the smell of Tide, but I notice they have a free and gentle version that's unscented. Does that work as well as regular tide?

Kirkland items are usually pretty good.

No doubt tide is a good detergent, however all laundry detergent will clean normally dirty clothes imo, no detergent removes all stains thats why theres stain removing products. I will let you in a a little secret, theres a laundry detergent thats called ariel, some walmarts sell it, its about 9 dollors for an 11 pound bag, its made in mexico by the makers of tide proctor and gamble, and is a 5 star detergent, some people say this is tide. I use it myself. It cleans very well, its a bit strong in the bag but rinses out well leaving a clean scent. I dont recommend this for he washers as it will suds, also the recommended amount is I think 1 cup, but even a full load of dirty play clothes only need 1/3 cup for me. As far as tide being worth the price I dont think it is, I have tons of different laundry detergents, from tide to sun, it all pretty much works the same for me as long as I dont overload the washer, but I have semi soft city water, which I have been told makes a difference as to how well laundry detergent works.

I won't buy it! Way too expensive. I use Awesome from the 99centsOnly Store. $1 for 32 loads. And that's...awesome!

Add a teaspoon or two of trisodium phosphate (TSP) to your washer when you use dirt-cheap laundry detergents.

While Tide is perennially a top performer in Consumer Reports' annual laundry detergent study, I don't care for Tide at all. My personal favorite is Persil. However there are cheaper laundry detergents that do pretty good job: Ariel, Wisk, and Cheer.
