I buy all my clothing from thrift stores. Every last stitch on my body, except shoes, bras and panties. Those are get from Target. I get compliments on my fashion sense all the time, even from people who refuse to set foot anywhere but haute couture stores! Usually, they are shocked because I tell them I spend no more than $1 or $2 per item at thrift shops. I can spend $50 every 6 months and have both a summer and winter wardrobe. And my style is not just old T-shirts and jeans. I wear dresses, skirts, slacks, blouses, etc. and I accessories with scarves and cute hats. I am very, very fortunate in that my body shape has remained consistent throughout my entire adult life, so my clothes can last forever if I take good care of them.
Well, I can't match GirlFriday, but I do find a lot of bargains on Ebay. New or barely used clothes. I recently bought two Coldwater Creek blouses, and a Talbots shrug from Ebay, for $25 total, including shipping! I do agree that buying quality and taking care of your clothes stretches your wardrobe further than just chasing sales for over=priced junk!
I bought some clothes online at Kohl's today, 30% off + $10 off $40 + $11.50 merchandise credit =) The $40 I spent will get me through fall and winter just fine.
All great buys! I find, too, that one doesn't really need a lot of clothes. Regardless of how much I have, I find myself reaching for the same items. OTH, I have very bad feet---arthritis, neuropathy, psoriasis---
and spend a fortune on special shoes and socks. Soon I will get Medicare Part B and it will pay for at least some of my diabetic shoes.
I bought four new nursing bras yesterday, my old ones were shot. Those take a beating, what with the frequent washing and all. So expensive, sigh. Oh, well, still less costly than formula.
Last month I bought a few new clothes for exercise. A pair of shorts, yoga pants and an exercise bra. Most of the time I buy from thrift shops but not for exercise clothes or undergarments.
