As a former Grocery employee and business connected of 23 yrs there are many items in the Mkt that are called LOW GROSS or small margin profit items.....MILK being one of them.
Cows will need to be milked regular whether the milk is sold or poured down the drain.....prices will vary depending on the area and supply while the price of feed is a contributing factor.......take your pick of areas.
Go to your Milk/Deli case and look at what items are made with some Milk and see the prices change.
I will never eat another egg again if I ever have to pay $7.38 a dozen for them. I don't care if they are free range, organic etc. I think that's ridiculous.

The price of eggs has gone up recently, presumably just temporary due to sick chickens.
The price will come down.
