A tip I use to extend the life of my blades..... I have a small plastic container filled about 1/2 inch with baby oil. After shaving I drop the blade end into the oil. Rust is the enemy and this helps lubricate and protect the blade. I can usually go a month on 1 blade.
I use an old fashioned Gillette razor. Most of my blades are from 99 cent store. I have a drawer full of them, probably enough to last for 20 years. If you dry the blades after use, they seem to last longer

It's not environmentally nice, but with coupons matched with sales you can get brand new razor with one or two blades super cheap or even free.
Like Fusion, for instance, will have a $5 coupon at the same time that CVS is offering $5 'cash-back' on it.
I haven't paid more then $2 for one in many years. And no refills because the deals are never that good for them. Their whole thing is wanting you to try their razor, and there are many that are so similar.
^ Yup, I stock up on razors with coupons. Bic sometimes puts out $3 off coupons, which makes the yellow single-blade and two-blade girly Silky Touch razors free/moneymakers. I actually prefer single and double blade razors for shaving my legs...five-blade and six-blade razors seem to get clogged up more easily or something. I use the same coupons to buy hubby the nicer Bic razors...I think it's the three-blade ones that I get for him.
Well I said safety razors at first..you can buy 100 razors for like 11 bucks (depends on BRAND of blades) after you by the safety razor itself.

I paid $6 for mine in 1980. I used it up until 2001 when my son was using it and dropped it on a ceramic tile floor, which shattered the blade. That was the year I retired, so I stopped shaving. Get a good razor and it can last you a lifetime.

My dad was a barber and he could not shave himself with a straight razor. If you can, hat's off to you. This isn't a practical solution for most people.
