Does anybody recognize these? We live in SE PA and our yard is totally covered with these at the moment. I've lived here for 4 years but never seen them before. Prob. not edible?
The top almost looks like a velvety tough leather. Some of them are very big.

Rule of thumb, treat them as poisonous.

It is probably for the best, but this is how most americans think of mushrooms and missing out on lots of really delicious ones!

Can you possibly take a better/closer shot? Looks like some type of boletas, which are mostly good... do they have gills or little tubes on underside?

looks similar to some that i have in my back yard, and appears to be some type of bolete.
