Unfortunately, with all of that glass, it looks like a death trap for birds.

??
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Obviously, this was not beautiful to jackmichigan. And that has NOTHING to do with his outlook on life.

No need to get snotty just because things are perceived differently!

Sorry to disappoint you, but I wasn't searching for anything. The sad fact is that most people, obviously yourself included, do not realize that these types of glass exposures needlessly kill millions of birds each year. Simple design alterations can greatly reduce the deadliness of human structures upon wildlife, especially birds.

So, you see, my post was simply a way to try to alert some people to these types of hazards. It was not in any way critical of the post itself. I believe that most people are open to new information, and I also feel that we, as humans, have a responsibility to care for the natural world of which we are truly blessed.

But I do admire the honesty of the statement under your screen name.

are you saying this particular building with the vertical gardens is more of a death trap than any other mostly-glass building? Looks to me like the gardens would offer much food, shelter and nesting areas-much more so than any other building.

Which is exactly WHY it is more dangerous to the birds.
The foliage is reflected in the windows, and the birds will fly into the glass to land on what they see in it.

Any books or sites that can show you how to build a vertical garden

I am well aware of the problem with glass windows, plants, and birds. I find a few in my yard every year.

But the OP was about a beautiful vertical garden. While is commendable that you want to educate others concerning the dangers of glass expanses and birds, I believe it is off topic and you should start your own thread.

Honestly stated under my screen name.
