A few years back there was a craze of growing plants in old leather boots. Wish I had taken a picture of mine. Went to the Army Navy Surplus Store and found some really good ones.

Had a old friend (he was in his 80s) who had several old bathtubs on his property which he used as planters. He was quite a character and grew some really neat stuff in those tubs.

Actually some people down the road from me have a toilet-planter in their front yard, just sitting in the middle of their lawn. I think it looks tacky; perhaps it wouldn't so much if it was incorporated into a bigger design.
Or in their back yard.
Some of the ideas in the OP are really cute. I like the purse planters!

I found a beat up old red wagon in a junque yard years ago. I have it on my large porch with branches from my Harry Lauder Walking Stick I brought with me from my old and beloved garden. I use them for stakes sometimes. and decided not to subject it to constant water with plants in it.
I think the wheelbarrows, wagons, and such used as planters are pretty cool. But the purses hanging on the fence scream, "A crazy person lives here!" Maybe if they put money plant in them...
