I used to leave the buckets out when I leave home in morning to get some sun and then take them back in at sunset. I am in midwest where it goes to around 100F degrees too. Make sure that when you water, it drips out the bottom. The holes 2" above are not going to keep water from soaking the bottoms of the roots, and those on the bottom won't drain freely if on a solid surface. The best way to do it is holes in bottom, and place on bricks so that the holes are above the ground. Also, those buckets have thin plastic walls. Over about 85F your roots can be cooked by the heat. Thicker ceramic or wood (Whiskey Barrel) pots are far better.
