Someone else's post led me to this idea. Lets post updates on our soil temps or maps. (no hyperlinking)
Will be fun to look back on. Last year more fun since we had an extreme winter and soil temps around here didn't "start" warming up until April but should be fun going forward.
This morning soil is in the 50s up to Missouri, Kansas, and starting into Nebraska and Iowa. After this week should be fun to see since we have a warm surge coming
Wow, no love for this thread? lol Bumping. 1st link in original post updated their site. Graphic more interactive and High Resolution. But I'll post the current soil temps from the 3rd link
We're having Arctic air past 36 hrs and the soil has froze up again here. Eastern Kansas looks warm already!
Here's what the NAM model says for soil temps Surface to 4" down Wednesday afternoon this week.
Interesting to see Kentucky since it will be in the 50s & 60s next 3 days. Would think soil temp would be higher than 40s there.
30s here in NE Wisc., but February was the warmest ever. I couldn't believe the perennial beds, signs of life, very unusual for here. I haven't checked how far down the frost line is, but would think it is down a few inches! Thanks for links!
No problem. Always fun to see the maps and soil temps out there. I suspect soil temps will be in check and even drop next week or so with the pattern we're about to enter. I'm so ready for spring and to smell the soil but looks like it will have to wait for many of us now.
Very cool! In Maine. I know they had a crazy deep snowpack in March this year. A foot of more most of March and into April. Last year had nothing mostly. So the snow pack helped keep soil warmer this year.
Decided to check my soil temp. Both 4.5" down and 2" down. Similar results..
Just as I suspected.. Cold...Under 40°F. No planting till Mid May here.
