I'm in zone 6 with a last frost date of 5/15. When can I safely plant some peas? Any other cold tolerant veggies that I should consider?

When I lived in zone 6, I planted English peas right around St. Patrick's Day.

I bought a pack of "snowbird" peas, where you use the whole pod. I thought I could plant early. Thanks

They will grow, though slowly even when the temperatures are around or just above freezing, but prefer at least 40-45C. Soak them in water overnight indoors to give them a head start, and I would say in your zone about April 1st. You could plant them now in a tray inside and transplant mid-April.
