We've got land tortoises that don't hibernate in the winter months. They can't handle temps below 60 degrees. They're starting to get big - the male is about 85 pounds and the female is probably getting close to 70 pounds - so last fall we bought a green house kit and put it up for them. The male didn't like it, rammed it a couple times and toppled it.

This coming fall they she will be close to 100 pounds and he'll be well over that. I just don't see how we can get them indoors for the winter again, so I have to find a way to keep them warm outdoors.

A greenhouse type structure is the only way. We're ordering outdoor heating mats for them to put in there, as well as heat lamps for when the winter really hits. I'll dig some burrows to get them underground as well. But we need a super heavy duty greenhouse type fabric that will trap and hold the heat from the sun - what little there is in the winter - and keep the cold winds out. We'll have to put up a 6x6 timber frame to attach it to so he can't topple this too.

Does anyone know of a really good heavy duty greenhouse type fabric they can recommend?

polycarb panels will likely be the best bet. You would only need it at the base of the structure. These are couregated like metal roofing. Lowes and Home Depot sell them as well.

I think you may be approaching it from the wrong angle. Put a fence made up of cattle panels inside the greenhouse.

Those look perfect!! I'll have to get handy man guy over and get me an estimate quick. Maybe I can get them out early this year!! I want my house back!!!!!
