I too thought my daylilly foliage was safe but no such luck. They will eat it right to the ground around here. Even amsonia blue star which is supposed to be deer repellent is being nibbled. I'm trying Bobbex now and will see if that works. I would try coyote lure except we already have a pack of coyote in our subdivision and already several housecats have been discovered dead or missing. I fear for the safety of children, including my own 2 seven year old girls. The other morning 3 grown deer were chased into my yard by a coyote. It was around 10 a.m. and quite scary as I had just been in that area of the garden.
Coyote attacks on people are extremely rare, I wouldn't worry too much about that. It's usually as a result of people leaving food out for them. One thing about our coyotes, they keep our rabbit population down, so we rarely see rabbits. We did have one coming around quite a bit several years ago, and the Bobbex worked against both the deer and rabbits. But as someone said, what works for one person doesn't always work for another. For instance, someone earlier mentioned moles being repelled by cat pee. We have three outdoor cats, and the moles don't mind the cats at all. I've seen the cats use the mulch under one tree as a litter box, and the moles just keep tunneling all around there. I'm at my wit's end with moles.
