Just diggin this thread up, since it's time.

Last week there was 1 nice day and i tapped the new tree lot.
I am hoping when the weather breaks the new lot, which is more in the sun, will produce better than in the swamp, which is very shady.

Anyone up to doing sugar making this year? I see it as a celebration of Spring Rites.

Mac, I think the season will be later as Jan and Feb temps were both below average for the first time in many years in NH. I think the weather by next week will be nearly ideal. Highs in the 40s lows in the teens. Never have tapped maples, but have seen an entire process operation that is a family business. Great success. Sunnyside Maples- Loudon Rd, Pittsfield. I hope i'm not violating the advertising rules here.

Anytime the sun comes out seems like it now to me. My tooling hasn't changed any really, other than adding 1 more bucket to 37. I lost 1 tap cleaning them I guess, so I have 2 buckets to hang still. I have 35 buckets out in the bloomin rain! Oh well.
