Most americans are mixed. Black americans are mixed with European, yet whites having african ancestry is often ignored. Do white americans embrace their African ancestry? Also, I just read something about Heather Locklear, who is blonde and blue eyed, having African ancestry.
AFAIK, I'm one of the very few Puerto Ricans with zero African ancestry and very close to zero indigenous. But, I haven't taken a DNA test so I have no idea what the truth actually is
So if you haven't taken a DNA test, how do you know you have no African or indigenous ancestry? I can tell you that family lore and DNA results don't often agree...........

I don't deny I have indigenous ancestry. I know I do, and that was approximately 4 generations ago and she was a mestiza anyway. If I do have an African ancestor (which is probably likely, my family have been in Puerto Rico since the early 1800s as far as I know), it would most likely be around that time frame or longer ago.
A lot of white americans have quite a bit of native american ancestry, especially if their ancestors settled in the west in the 19th century. And when you say African what does that mean? Aren't there three major races. Oriental, Caucasian and Negroe, in order of their age. Which means they evolved as a separate race at different periods, all tracing their roots to a biped a million years ago in central Africa? What part of our lineage to we owe to salamanders then?
One thing to consider is if a person's tiny amount of African ancestry is of the ancient kind, and was there prior to his/her European ancestors coming to America. The haplogroup E1b1b originated in Africa, but it is fairly prevalent in southern Europe.
Haplogroup E1b1b (formerly E3b) represents the last major direct migration from Africa into Europe. It is believed to have first appeared in the Horn of Africa approximately 26,000 years ago and dispersed to North Africa and the Near East during the late Paleolithic and Mesolithic periods.

It is the only Near Eastern haplogroup consistently found throughout Europe, even in Norway, Sweden, Finland and Baltic countries

Some will, some won't. I think people would be more accepting now than twenty years ago, especially with personal genomics showing what they are truly made of.
I wouldn't be surprised if Heather's DNA results came out 100% European. Claims of non-white ancestry are often times a fashion statement, or an inaccuracy in the family tree.
Most white Americans embrace the nationality of their more recent relatives - Irish, Italian, etc. People who consider themselves "mutts" like me don't normally embrace any particular country.
I say embrace whatever you want to embrace. Aren't we all Irish in March and Hispanic in May and Christian in December? Be kind to all people. Don't be a hater!
Thanks shot! It's all a ploy to make us a house divided. imo
