If you were starting to get job calls (interview screeners) for jobs would you move before getting an offer? (cheaper, expensive)

Depends. Do you have money saved up to support yourself for awhile without a job? An interview doesn't mean the job is a sure thing. Are you planning to move to this place regardless?
...do you think it's crazy to up and move before you get a job?
What if you have to move before getting an offer?
Absent other reasons to move... it's irresponsible.
But if you're young with no responsibilities or obligations beyond yourself
and you have the six months of living expense money set aside...
and the city is a place you really want to be...
and it's known to be a center for the sort of work you want and are qualified to do...
i probably would if i had a specific location i really liked in mind. i have no dependents and enough savings to get me by for a few months at least. i'm also fairly reckless with these kind of decisions so yes i would do it even without the savings. i wouldn't be afraid to work a crappy job for a while if it came down to it.
if you've been unemployed for like a year though i would definitely be hesitant.

If you have me on ignore, I guess you'll never see my reply :-(
But my answer is if you have plenty of money saved up, or an even bigger bonus would be if you have enough to buy a home outright and are sure you want to live there, then I don't see the problem with it.
The only exceptions would be if you don't have enough money saved up to live comfortably in the current location and the COL would be cheaper in the new city.
And I'd make an exception for people in certain situations where they need to get out for their own safety.
Not in this economy, especially if kids are involved. Too much of an expensive gamble. If they want to hire you badly enough they will give you an offer contingent upon you making the move.
My question is do you think it's crazy to up and move before you get a job?
What if where you live you don't get one nibble but recently you have had 2 or 3 screener interviews over the phone at the place you are considering?
Do you think that indicates a positive?
What if you have to move before getting an offer?
Just want opinions here.
Thanks.
Is there any way you could visit on some vacation days and do interviews before committing to a move?
