What h*ll can I expect getting my dog on a plane.....and I mean for around August 3rd...?
I am told to register him as "Emotional Support Animal".....anyone familiar......He is old, I am concerned, but I am moving from one side of country to the other...a big deal.
I cannot drive.....I already did that....
I will search forum as I am sure many have threads about this and many pet lovers here.....

Is he an emotional support animal? Or do you just want to tell them that so he can go on the plane? Is he small? Can he fit in a carrier under the seat in front of you?
If the dog is small enough to fit in a carrier pay the fee to the airline to have him onboard with you. If he is too big, you will have to find an airline that he can go in the belly of the plane.

You do not have to lie and call him an emotional support animal. If he is small enough to fit in a soft carrier under the seat in front of you he can fly in the cabin. Just pay his airfare.
Most airlines also require a health certificate from your vet. As others have stated if he is small and can fit under seat he can fly in cabin with you. If he is big like a lab or other breeds he has to go in cargo and many airlines will not fly a pet in cargo during summer months for obvious reasons.
I know it's a real pain as I have a cat and when I travel 1300 miles to visit home I just drive, less of a hassle with a pet.

I am traveling with daughter.....not flying at same time. One dog is ESA, the other is not. The dog that is ESA is a German Shepherd. I have now researched this and see that he can go on plane they just provide extra seat and he has to lie at my feet......this is no simple task for any dog, small or large.
I will look into perhaps having him transported another way across country....he is also old (was a rescue himself)....and I do not want to stress him.

Maybe you could hire someone to drive him, and perhaps yourself. When I moved to Ok from California, my older dog snoozed most of the trip on my lap. She was a small beagle. You could ship the bulk of your stuff and hire a car and driver to get you and the animals there with far less worry. With you there it would further reduce the stress.

For the price of that uber you may as well charter your own private flight.

Neither do I ! all items must be secured . Not sure a dog laying on the floor is secured should turbulence or an emergency evacuation be necessary. But then I wondered the same thing when a gent who was paralyze was in his seat... And his chair was at a locked area on the plane... What of his getting off the plane... ? Sometimes safety really is questionable...
