Depends totally on your definition of what that means.

As far as just my home space goes, it's when I finally know where everything is and I've pretty much finished with decorating - hung the pictures, etc. I'm kind of an ongoing decorator, but I feel home when I know where things are and I wouldn't be embarrassed to let someone in.

I bought my house three years ago and waited and waited wondering when it would happen. Then one day it just did. Maybe that was about 6 months ago. I think it had to do with my spending long hours commuting and working and I began to not even recognize my home when I returned. I would look around and everything seemed so foreign, but beautiful. I became very resentful and confused about that, so I took measures to improve my schedule (Just saying "No, I'm going home.") and then it was 'home'. Weird, I know. So, maybe it was when I wanted to be there more than anywhere else?

I would say it took me 7 or 8 months, for a while I kept looking around & thinking to myself, when do I need to pack up & go home lol We even took a weekend away & it confused me to be back in the new place. Then a few months later we took another trip & I found myself, looking forward, to going back home.

Depends on the place. I have lived in San Francisco for 12 years. It does not feel like home and never will.

It depends on the place, some places do immediately...some just never seem like home. Ever.

My husband always said it was when he could smell the first Italian meal I cooked in the kitchen.

All depend on YOU. Just because you live somewhere, doesn't make it a "true" home. I currently live in California, originally from Southern Indiana, and California will NEVER be or feel like home.

I have my wife, and that makes it bearable to come "home" to her. But home is where the heart is, and for me, that's back in good ole Southern Indiana
