I'm planning on moving sometime in December from NY to NC. I've used Budget before, but my last experience with them wasn't good. The drop off location was closed on the drop off date despite it being "open" when I selected it on the website and I had to drive another hour to drop it off at a different location. They wanted to charge extra, which I was refunded later on. I'm planning on getting a 12 ft or 16 ft truck and tow the car. I've looked at Penske and it's very expensive. I know Budget only lets you tow your car if you get the 16 ft truck, but Uhaul offers it with all of them. Just wondering which is better from people who have used both in the past? Is Uhaul good?
Is budgets 16 footer more than uhauls smaller truck after the coupon code? Did you do the math or investigate the discount codes?
Do your research and compare apples to apples.
Yes, it's more. The only thing is I'm eligible for is a 10% discount. The NY metro area is excluded from the extra 20% discount. How are Uhaul's service and truck conditions?
I had a terrible experience with Uhaul when i was in college. I had rented a truck with a friend and on the moving day, they told me they did not have a moving van for me. I asked how this could be possible since I made a reservation, and they told me this regularly happens. I was in shock that this would happen, since it was a college town and the last day of the month so presumably everyone that booked a truck, would make good on their reservation. It's even ridiculous that they couldn't even offer me another vehicle. I ended up having to take the bus back home 300 miles to pick up a rental to bring back. To this day I have never rented a Uhaul again.
Only Penske if you value your belongings. Their trucks are very clean and in excellent condition, bug free, and you get what you pay for. They will also rent you a flatbed and attach it to the truck to carry your car if you like.
If you have AAA you can get a nice Penske discount. Plus their trucks are diesel, so better Mpg. But they sit a tad higher so a little harder to load bigger items.
